President Muhammadu Buhari in Ogun State for a one-day official visit, to commission some landmark projects undertaken by the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun. The projects include the 42km Sagamu Interchange – Abeokuta dual carriageway, the new Kobape Housing Estate, located on the Sagamu Abeokuta Interchange, the first phase of Kings Court Estate, Abeokuta as well as the Ogun City Gate.
In his remarks after the commissioning of some projects in the state, Abiodun thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his unflinching support, since the inception of his administraion saying , “We have based our choices on what the people say they want and set towards working on them. With some of the roads commissioned earlier by Mr President, socio – economic activities along that corridor would be achieved, many more projects are already at different stages of completion “.
Abiodun added that his administration has also embarked on the implementatiom of several policies, while also using the opportunity to thank President Muhammadu Buhari for the posthumous honour bestowed the highest national honour on the acclaimed winner of the 1993 Presidential Elections, late MKO Abiola. He added that Ogun State has the highest concentration of federal roads in the state. Therefore, it needs to be accorded a special status in that regard.Thereafter, the key to the city gate and a miniature version was presented to the President.
On his part, Buhari thanked Abiodun and people of Ogun State for the warm reception accorded him on arrival and went down memory lane on his sojourn as a young officer in the Nigerian Army in the state. Commending Abiodun, Buhari said, “I’m here in the state to comnission several legacy projects. I am particularly impressed by the quality of your road projects. Your housing projects also cut across strata which is very commendable. You have justified the mandate of the Ogun people. I have also listened to your request on the Sango-Ota road. I can assure you that it will receive Federal Government Attention. I will leave the state with fond memories and gladly receive the keys to city gate and my honorary citizenship.
