Dipo Dina: Eleven years after death

No doubt Otunba Dipo Dina also known as DD is an household name who has made his mark within and outside Ogun State.

Dina was assasinated on January 25th, 2010 in Ogun State, South-West Nigeria. At the time of his death, he was aspiring to govern Ogun State on the platform of Action Congress (AC) now APC.

He was allegedly killed in the industrial town of Sango Ota, Ogun State by unknown assailants who shot him through the windshield of his SUV.

It was reported then that Dina’s assailants said his life had been paid for before shooting him in the presence of two others who were in the jeep with him. The others were subsequently driven away and dropped off by the assailants.

Eleven years after the unfortunate incident, he still been remembered by family, friends and associates as many say that he left legacies and foodprints on the sands of time.

Dina was born on July 15, 1960 into the Dipo Alapo Ekun family of Iyanro, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. He had his secondary education at the Baptist Academy, Lagos, before going on to the University of Lagos where he got his first degree in Accounting and later M.Sc in Finance. He became a Chartered Accountant in 1984 and subsequently founded and until his death was Senior Partner at Dele Dina & Co. (an accounting firm). Between 1997 and 1999 Dipo served as the chairman of Ogun State Bulk Purchase Commission where he reportedly donated his salaries and allowances to the School of the Handicapped, in Ijebu Ode.
