Omotayo hails Ogun Speaker’s stand on Sports Commission and Trust Fund


A renowned Sports Psychologist, Prof. Seun Omotayo has hailed Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Kunle Oluomo, for admonishing Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun to immediately implement the State Sports Commission and the State Sports Trust Fund Laws, passed by the Assembly in 2019.

While speaking during a stakeholders meeting in Abeokuta, Ogun State recently, Daily Trust reported that Oluomo said, it would boost sports activities and youth development in the state, in view of the recent #EndSARS protest in Ogun and other parts of the country.
“it is high time youths are engaged in sports activities and other skills development as an idle hand is the devil workshop.

Oluomo said: “I want to appeal that you inaugurate with immediate effect the members of Ogun State Sports Commission so that sporting activities can start immediately in the state.”

In a WhatsApp message sent to our correspondent, on Sunday by Omotayo, it reads in part; “There cannot be a better time to positively change the narratives of sports in Ogun State which hinges on the inauguration of the Ogun State Sports Commission and the Sports Development Trust Fund which the Members of the State House of Assembly has since passed into law”.

The message continued: “The time is more than ripe to occasion a paradigm shift in Youths engagement using sports as the potent and veritable avenue”.

It will be recalled that Omotayo, a
visiting Scholar and Senior Member at the
University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho, Ghana, had reiterated severally the need for the current administration to leverage on the giant achievements made in sports during the tenure of Otunba Gbenga Daniel and equally ensure he signs into Law the State Sports Commission and the State Sports Trust Fund bills respectively .
