NCS, Omotayo commend Sport Minister’s pragmatic approach to Sports Development

The National Council on Sports as well as renowned Sports Psychologist, Professor Seun Omotayo have commended the Minister for Sports and Youth Development, Mr. Sunday Dare’s pragmatic approach to Sports Development in the country. The commendation stemmed from the just-concluded 22nd meeting of the National Council on Sports which was held in Asaba,the Delta State Capital.  While deliberating on issues relating to sports Development, the NCS, in a communique issued at the end of the meeting applauded the Federal Government for the numerous funding intervention for youth based initiatives in the country. The Council also thanked the government and people of Delta State ably headed by Governor Ifeanyin Okowa for their warm reception, while extolling the the Edo State Government for it’s commitment to the successful hosting and organisation of the 20th National Sports Festival.   On his part, Omotayo gave kudos to the Sports Minister and   Members of the National Council on Sports for the forward looking resolutions that emanated from  the just concluded National Council on Sports. While responding to questions in a telephone interview with our correspondent from his base in Ghana, the erudite Professor commended the Council for adopting the Sports Industry policy document articulated by NESG and for the revival of the National Headquarters and Principals sports program as the two are veritable Sports Development and Sports for Development program initiatives.  When asked about his assessment of Sports development in Ogun State, he said,” I  only hope that the Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, listens to call by well-meaning Ogun State indigenes for the signing into law the State Sports Commission and Trust Fund bills so as to move Sports development to the next level in Ogun State.”
