The All Progressives Congress (APC)  congresses in all the 9572 electoral wards in the country where delegates were suppose to emerge took place yesterday but ended in a fiasco in some states,Photostory has learnt.

If all had gone well, that would have set the stage for congresses in the 774 local government areas in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

While some states were lucky the congresses went well, others couldn’t tell pleasant stories.

In  Imo for instance, the congress ended in violence as the Deputy Governor of the state, Prince Eze Madumere, allegedly escaped being  attacked by thugs.

Moreso, there was a counter blame between the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and National Organising Secretary of the Party, Sen. Osita Izunazo over the hijacking  of sensitive election materials.

In  Ibadan, Oyo State, miscreants allegedly invaded the venue of the ward congresses and caused a scene there.

Information gathered by Photostory revealed that security agents around the party secretariat at Oke-Ado were overwhelmed when the saw the thugs.

Unconfirmed reports  have it that there were sporadic shootings around the area to scare the thugs away before policemen were able to restore normalcy later.

Although in Ogun State, the faction loyal to former Governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba were told to mend fences with the incumbent, Governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, some people still exhibited signs  of fear.

In Rivers State, information gathered revealed that a day before the congresses , two people were feared  dead due to the political fireworks between Minister of Transport/ former Governor of the State, Rt. Hon.Rotimi Ameachi and Sen. Magnus Abe over who controls the party structure ahead of the forthcoming election.

Zamfara State is not also left out as the political battle between  Governor, Abdulaziz Yari/ Chairman Nigeria Governors Forum and Senator representing Zamfara Central, Kabiru Marafa, took a new dimension as the Senator wrote a petition over the congress on allegedly being sidelined.

In Kogi State, Sen. Dino Melaye through his aides told his supporters to boycott the congress as he alleged that the whole process had been  compromised by the Governor.

In the same vien, some states postponed the congress to forestall crisis.

In all of these, while some political watchers are alluding the fact that this is a democracy and people must be given a  chance to express their feelings and grievances.Hence, they should not be shunned in the political arena.

Some are of the opinion that since the APC term themselves as progressives, the party members must have  an internal mechanism to settle the political scores within the party  instead of some members resulting to self help.

Following all these, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on its members that may have been aggrieved following the conduct of yesterday’s  ward Congresses  across the country to seek redress in its Appeal Panel.

Malam Bolaji Abudulahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary made the call in a statement issued  on Sunday in Abuja and made available to newsmen.

He, however, congratulated all members of the party, saying that the conduct of the congress was generally peaceful.

As of the time of filing this report, a lot of political intrigues are ongoing within the party. In due course, more revelations would emerge.
