The most anticipated entertainment award,The Headies 2018 held at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos and saw notable act, Mayowa Adewale aka Mayorkun winning the Next-rated category at the prestigious award.

As expected, the elated artiste ,alongside his 30 billion dollar crew which included Omo Baba Olowo (Davido) were on hand to support their own.

Mayorkun later performed his hit song ‘Mama to the admiration of the crowd.

Surprisingly, many people expected some big names in the industry  to be in attendance at the award but they were no were to be found.

For instance,Tu-Baba who won the Reggae Dance hall category was not on hand to receive his award.Similarly,Starboy (Whizkid) who carted two awards for his monstrous hit,’Come Closer’ didn’t attend the show.

The audience wondered why they were absent.

Performances for the night came from acts such as Niniola,Mountain Black and Mad Melon,Zule Zoo,Maleek Berry among others. In no small ways, they kept the audience on their feet.

Other winners of the night were Omawunmi (Best Female Vocal) ,Praiz (Best Male Vocal) Aramide (Best Alternative Sound), Simi (Recording of the Year for ‘Joromi),Rekaado Banks (Revolution of the and a host of other winners.

In addition, brands who have supported the entertainment industry in the last three years were recognised.

There were a few disappointments though as the audience expected an artiste like Adekunle Gold to win some certain categories but he lost out to other artistes.

Hosted by the duo of Comedian, Bovi and sexy musician, Seyi Shay, celebrities and entertainers spotted at the event include Timaya, Deyemi Okanlawon,Toyin Abraham, Lilian Esoro, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Nancy Isime,Bryan Okwara,Praiz,Aramide, Simi, Niniola, Mayorkun, Davido, Toyin Lawani, Tosin Martins among others.
